My wife’s heart is a mystery to me. Before you start thinking that this is going to be one of those “men don’t understand women” writings, give me some leeway to clarify what I mean.
I will start with the notion that mystery is essential to a life worth living. Mystery is what draws us in and keeps us intrigued; it is what engages our hearts and excites us to chase after; it ignites our passions and quickens our souls. Without mystery everything is known that can be known, and while knowledge may bring a sense of satisfaction and/or security, these are not what our hearts long for in life. Our hearts were made for loving fiercely, chasing mystery, and having reckless adventure with swashbuckling faith in God. This is what makes us feel alive. Which brings me back to my wife.
My wife’s heart is one of my most precious treasures. Her heart draws me in and keeps me; it reaches out to me in my times of need. Her heart excites my imagination and quickens me to chase after her; it pushes me into adventures and reminds to have faith. If it were not for my wife’s heart, I may not be “alive” today.
Andrea is my wife. She is also the mother to my three children and our homemaker. Without her we would have a house, but not a home. What’s the difference? Her heart. It permeates our home. You smell it in the fragrant candles she chooses; you see it the autumn or holiday décor that she really tries to get just right; you hear it in the music she quietly plays throughout the house; you can taste it in her home cooked meals she crafts; you feel it when she slugs you really hard...just kidding...but, you can really see it in her smile after she tastes a really good cup of coffee and when she is so tickled by something she can’t control her laughter (which is usually right after I trip over something). There is much that I have not listed and much I have yet to see. So the mystery continues...and my heart wouldn't have it any other way.
Happy Birthday my Love.

It is such a blessing to see a Godly man speak such beauty about his wife.. It is so wonderful to be able to read words of encouragement and joy about spouses while the world is so filled with discontentment with their own.. Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed reading it!
wow...that's all Mommy can say!
